Presenting our 2025 Album
‘Bindle’
The album “Bindle” is an international hobo’s musical journey across land, sea, and time, in a collection of songs where the Americana traditions are crosshatched with European and South American ones, where finely crafted originals and delicately reworked folk tunes are brought together with a dazzling, virtuosic array of voices and instruments to tell stories of life, love, loss, adventure, death, and birth.

More info about the album “BINDLE”
Old Salt’s album “Bindle” takes the form of a travelling bundle of songs that weave their way through (and past) the vast lexicon of genres that make up the Americana folk tradition. Down the Mississippi from the land of the Blues to New Orleans and the birthplace of Jazz, they follow the Gulf Stream up the East Coast, past the Old-Time sounds of the Appalachian mountains into the folk music revival of New York and New England. Over and across to Ireland, their path weaves through Europe towards the Balkans, grabbing some wayward travelers from the Andes mountains of South America along the way.
“Bindle” is an international hobo’s musical journey across land, sea, and time, a collection of songs that showcase Old Salt’s fascination with an array of folk music traditions and celebrate the adventure of knitting them together. You’ll hear sounds and lyrics, both original and traditional, on a broad spectrum of themes from life and love through loss, adventure, death, and birth.
This album is crafted by a motley crew of master musicians. The album curation and songwriting is led by the privileged hobo himself, Dan Wall on banjo and lead vocals hailing from New York State, USA. More masterful songwriting is committed by Johannes Wannyn from Ghent, Belgium who holds down the rhythm on guitar and is the mastermind of this band’s tight and dynamic vocal harmonies. On the violin and responsible for many a powerful solo and groove, well known throughout Europe for knocking the unprepared (and prepared alike) off their feet is Lotte Remmen, also from Ghent. Not many can imagine a cello taking on the role of “groove machine,” master of harmony and melody… but Old Salt can, with Toby Kuhn on the cello who hails from Burgundy, France. The band’s most wayward member brings with him a plethora of musical knowledge, applied with virtuosity to the Double Bass, Mandolin, Squareneck Slide Guitar, and yes, even a Charango… none other than multi-instrumentalist, Tomás Peralta from Santiago, Chile.
The album was recorded in Studio Trad by Jeroen Geerinck and mixed and mastered by Adam Pietrykowsky.
